We’re growing our own

  1. I love this idea!! I am hoping to grow some stuff in the summer too. I hope my kids will be close to food in this way. It is so sad when all they see is processed stuff and don’t know how food comes to the table. Good on you to get them involved. And the melons..ha ha maybe you will get a little one for Halloween decorations?

      1. Maybe just plant a few low maintenance plants and see how you get on? I think I’d have had time when Will was a baby (I remember trying and failing the following year when I had 3 kids under 2 πŸ˜‚)

  2. Looks like they had a lot of fun! This something I’d love to do when I have kids, but for now will have to do it myself… I’m thinking purple carrots, beans, tomatoes and beets this year! 🌱

  3. This is such a great idea to get the kids involved in. I am sure that they will be so proud of the fruit and veggies which they grow. I know that I am still like a kid when I bring in a pepper or tomatoes from my garden and show it to my hubby and my two boys, it is just so exciting.
Hope that you and your kids have tons of gardening fun πŸ™‚

    1. Me too! We did this 10 days ago and already have thyme (which Will has growing on his window sill), basil and cherry tomatoes sprouting (I think i’m as excited as the kids are about it ☺). I’m really looking forward to them seeing the fruit and veg growing and being able to pick them x

  4. #thesatsesh love this and think kids seeing food grow is essential. I totally recommend carrots…they grow anywhere and can take a beating. Also sweetcorn is so much fun and doesn’t need much space or soil…again toddler proof πŸ™‚ best of luck growing and I’m hoping for some follow up blogs on how the plants are doing.

    1. Thank you, we’ve got thyme, basil and cherry tomatoes coming through already and never mind the kids, I’m really excited about it 😊. A few people have recommended carrots (I think i’m going to try and grow some from our food waste) & sweetcorn is one of the kids’ favourites so that’s a great suggestion. And yes to some follow up posts on how we get on. Thanks for stopping by x
